Wanda is preceded in death by her brother, Myrth Dunham King, her son Carlos Noe Garcia and by her beloved husband of 67 years, Noel Caballero Garcia. She is survived by her brother, Richard King. Wanda Faye King Garcia was born on May 24, 1934 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Nona Muckleroy King and Martin Luther King, Jr. She was the loving mother of six children, Alicia Garcia Hinojosa, Carlos Garcia, David Garcia (Alice), Arturo Garcia (Camille), Laura Aimee Garcia (Isaac) and Christopher Garcia. She was also blessed with 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from Nacogdoches High School and went on to earn her degree as a Registered Nurse in Houston Texas. Wanda married her soul mate on April 24th, 1954. They ultimately moved to Laredo, Texas where together they raised their family and ran their many businesses. Dedicated to healing others, Wanda practiced her profession of Nursing in many different settings. Her most passionate role was as head nurse at Amparo Gutierrez Elementary School where she took care of the children, faculty and staff. Wanda was very active in her community dedicating her spare time volunteering with her parish church. Wanda served her community in many capacities including President of the Laredo Women’s Club and Girl Scout Leader. Wanda had a love of horses which was only surpassed by her love of reading. Her greatest passion, however, was her family. Her touch of grace is now lost to all who loved her but her legacy continues to inspire us. She will be greatly missed.
