Virginia B. Johnson (Ginger) was born on September 7, 1937 in Center, TX. She transitioned into her heavenly home on February 13, 2021. Patiently awaiting her arrival in paradise, was her husband JD Johnson, daughter Darlene Johnson, parents Elzie and Thelma Snider, three brothers, and one sister.
Ginger was a Christian woman, a loving wife, a mother, and a friend to many. She came from humble beginnings, raised by a God-fearing mother that taught her how to sew and love people, and a father who taught her to be strong and unapologetic. She was a highly creative and talented baker and seamstress; sewing and cooking were two passions she held on to for life! At the youthful age of fourteen, she met JD Johnson at a church event and fell head over heels in love. She married JD in 1952 and they moved to Houston, TX to start their lives filled with love and adventure.
In 1954, she became a mother for the first time and from that point forward being a parent superseded any career she could have ever imagined. Throughout her life, loving her children and grandchildren was her top priority; she was a champion for her family!
Ginger was a faithful member of Mt. Houston Pentecostal Church. She participated in the Ladies Auxiliary church group which allowed her to serve her congregation and community through fundraising, caregiving, and hospitality. Ginger loved being with her church family and she loved to travel and for several years she organized bus trips for all the church members. She had planned so many trips that a local travel agency even offered her a job as a travel agent!
This was an ideal job for her as she loved traveling and adventure!
Ginger was a strong woman. She was a prayer warrior and had the heart of a servant. She was stubborn and impatient, but accepting and enduring. She loved hard and was fiercely loyal to those closest to her. She never lied and always spoke her mind. Her children and grandchildren revered her; she was always a safe place, unwavering.
Ginger is survived by her two children: Danny Johnson and Sheila Few. Four grandchildren; Talisha Fenoglio and husband Lee Ashby, Dana Kersh, Blake Few, and Brittany Few. Four Great-Grandchildren; Caden Fenoglio, Chase Fenoglio, Connor Ashby, and Haden Kersh. Six siblings In-law Jack Paxton, Lillian Snider, Holly Snider, Margie Johnson, Louise and Harold Rogers.
