Obituary

Frances Veralene Park Edgmon, 87 passed away on August 23, 2023 in Nacogdoches, Tx. The family will hold a private service at a later date.

Veralene was born September 18, 1935 to the late Virgil Lee and Norma (Martin) Park in Temple, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Walters High School. She met the love of her life at 16 years old when Elmer, dirty from working in the cotton fields asked her if she would like to get a coke.  She said yes, they married on October 19, 1952 and spent 68 years together.   Veralene followed Elmer as he served in the military and various other jobs until they made their home in Garrison, Texas.

Veralene and Elmer loved living in Garrison and made it a home for their family. There were many happy memories watching her children grow.  She was extremely proud of them.  They attended First Baptist Church and Corner Post Cowboy Church.  Her favorite thing was being a wife, mother, and homemaker, although she did work as FBC’s secretary, librarian, and retired from the State of Texas as a data entry operator.  Due to her husband being an avid sports fan she developed a love for many sports.  She could be seen in the stands wearing her purple attire supporting some of her favorite SFA Ladyjacks.  Veralene/Mema continued attending many football, basketball, baseball games as a devoted fan.

She is survived by her son: Ricky Edgmon and wife Laura of Dallas, daughter: Jana Muckleroy and husband Wade of Nacogdoches, brother in law: Jimmy Edgmon of Walters, Okla.; Grandchildren: Ryan Williams and wife Tasha of Royse City, Tx, Maci Muckleroy Strahan and husband Dustin of Beckville, Tx, Reese Edgmon Wilkinson and husband James of Temple, Tx, Natalie Baumann and husband Cody of Lake Jackson, Tx, Kyle Edgmon of Dallas; Great Grandsons: Regan Williams, Landry Wilkinson, Colton Wilkinson, Michael & Mason Baumann, Sage Strahan; Great Granddaughters: Kinslee Williams, Tatum Wilkinson, & Shyanne Strahan; Numerous nephews, nieces, and a host of family and friends that were loved.

Mrs. Edgmon is preceded in death by her husband Elmer Lee Edgmon; her parents, Virgil Park & Norma Park Maddox, In-laws Earl and Iva Edgmon; sister Jean Priddy Hazelwood, and brothers in law, Billy Edgmon and Franky Edgmon.
