Travis Wayne Williams

Funeral service for Travis Wayne Williams, 31, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 4. 2023 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Bridges officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Laird Funeral Home.

Travis was born on June 5, 1991, the son of Charles and Louann Williams.  He spent his childhood, alongside his sister and brother, enjoying the freedoms afforded to children raised in East Texas.  He enjoyed riding bikes, BMX racing and generally being outside most of the time.  His love of the outdoors also included standard boyhood things such as skateboarding and paintball wars.  Travis developed quite the passion for hunting and fishing and found solace when floating on the Blanco River.  As was typical during the times he grew up, kids played outside with other children who lived on their street.  This was a great source of memories for Travis.  He and others often gathered at the Rigg’s house (located practically in his family’s back yard) to play in their treehouse or swim in their homemade swimming pool (the kids loved the ingenious use of a watering trough).  His childhood was filled with every day, normal things that boys did.  As a young boy, he could be found on most any day, shooting slingshots, climbing trees with his brother and friends or playing with fireworks in the neighborhood.  Simple days and a devoted, loving family molded Travis into the young man he became.  He enjoyed spending holidays with his loved ones and when Christmas came around, he looked forward to the days spent in Dallas with aunts, uncles and cousins.  However, the highlight of each year was not necessarily the presents, but the traditional trip with his parents and siblings to North Park Mall!  Travis loved animals, riding alongside Garrett in his truck or with Whitney as they talked and enjoyed each other’s company.  He used this as his time for advice and guidance and to be the brother he wanted to be to them.

Travis loved deeply and had a special place in his heart and life for his mom and dad, and of course for his little brother and big sister.  He called them often.  Most phone calls were just to check in with his “Pops and LouBear” or make sure Geebs and Whit knew he loved them.  After Travis graduated high school, he became a father.  Landon was what Travis was most proud of.  Being a dad to a precious baby boy and watching him grow was prevalent on his mind every day of his life.  Travis cherished his time with Landon and when life circumstances took him on a path that led him to being in Houston for an extended time, Landon was still in the forefront of his mind every day.   He knew what he was doing would allow him to provide things for Landon for the many years to come and Travis was doing what was best to make sure he would be there for Landon in the future. He became a mentor for his newfound friends and they were an important part of his days.  Travis additionally encouraged and counseled others he knew were having troubles and aimed to be a resource to friends along the way who were facing life challenges.  Ironically, on the day he went to his heavenly home, Travis had just found out he would be the newest full-time employee at the plant he was working in.  He was overjoyed about his latest endeavors.  Travis was kind, loving, attentive, silly most of the time and loved with his whole heart.  He will always be remembered as the one who could bring a smile to everyone around him.  He made a great impact on many people including his family and friends during his lifetime and those memories will forever be cherished. Travis left our humanly world to go to a better place feeling achieved, happy and hopeful after overcoming many of the challenges he faced in his life journey. His brother often told him in their chats that life is like a book that we write along the way, and Travis went into the arms of the Lord after writing one of his best chapters yet.

Travis is survived by his son, Landon Wayne Williams; parents, Charles & Louann Williams; sister, Whitney Freeberg & husband, Sheldon of Tyler; brother, Garrett Williams of Houston; nephew, Cameron Freeberg; aunts and uncles, Carol and A.D. Clark of Tyler, Janet and Pace Thorne of The Woodlands and Bill and Sharon Alderdice of Plano as well as his cousins and many wonderful friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Lucianne Alderdice and Pete and Dovie Williams.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Centers, Christopher Manchester, Daniel Patterson, Garrett Ploch, Charley Riggs and Joshua Sturgis.  Honorary pallbearers include Kyle Baize, Jeremy Gross, JC Cook and Reuben Riggs.
