Funeral Service for Thomas Austin, 90, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Stallings Drive Baptist Church with Bro. Norris Dudley officiating. Interment will follow at Martinsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Laird Funeral Home.
Thomas Austin was born March 21, 1934, in Jonesboro, Louisiana to the late Thomas E. Austin and Willie A. Austin.
He passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Thomas grew up in Jonesboro, Louisiana and graduated from high school there. He met and married Shirley Caskey on February 9, 1957. They were married for 54 years.
They moved to Texas soon after, where they raised a family and Thomas worked as a paint contractor. He loved to take trips to the Arkansas mountains and going fishing with friends. He was active in his church in many different ways and enjoyed every service. He enjoyed his hobby of building bird houses and what knots. He loved to share his bird houses with family and friends. He loved to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed dinners with his son and grandson and watching little Annabelle play. He looked forward to seeing his daughter, Martha, and spending Thanksgiving with her and her family each year.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Austin; son, Thomas Wayne Austin, Jr.; and sister, Ann Hall.
He is survived by his son, Enos Austin and wife, Teresa of Nacogdoches; daughter, Martha Thacker of Houston; five grandchildren, Jason Austin and wife Heather of Nacogdoches, Christopher Austin and wife Kate of Kingwood, Pastor Thomas Lee Rogers and wife, Traci of Oklahoma, Amanda Jones and husband, Chris of Cushing, and Briana Thacker of Houston; and four great grandchildren.
