A visitation for Tammy Ruth (Chamberlain) Briley, 66, of Nacogdoches, will be held from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Laird Funeral Home. 

Tammy Briley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Born and raised in Nacogdoches, Texas, Tammy was a proud member of the Nacogdoches High School Class of 1978, where she was a twirler, played flute in the band, and was voted “Cutest” by her classmates during her senior year. She later attended Stephen F. Austin State University and graduated with the Class of 1982.

Tammy married the love of her life, Victor Briley, on July 17, 1982, at First United Methodist Church in Nacogdoches. Their marriage was built on a foundation of love, friendship, faith, and family. Though Victor preceded her in death, their love story as high school sweethearts remained one of Tammy’s greatest joys.

Family was the center of Tammy’s world. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She rarely missed a school event, sporting event, recital, or special occasion involving her children or grandchildren. Known affectionately as “Boo” by her grandchildren, she delighted in family gatherings and creating lasting memories with those she loved most.

Tammy enjoyed annual family vacations to Crystal Beach, a Disney World trip with loved ones. and the occasional random trips to the casino boats. She especially loved spending time with her beloved dog, Sunny, attending weekly Bible studies with her nephew Kade King, sharing lunches with her mother, Carolyn “Granna” King, and spending quality time with her brothers during their frequent rides to treatment. 

A dedicated educator, Tammy devoted her career to teaching and positively impacting the lives of countless students. In recognition of her passion and commitment, she was honored as Teacher of the Year at McMichael Middle School in 2013. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting legacy. 

Tammy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nacogdoches, where her faith remained an important part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Briley, and her father, L.O. King.

She is survived by her mother, Carolyn “Granna” King; her brothers, Kenny Chamberlain and wife Meredith, and Chris King and wife Paula; her son, Rusty Briley and wife Angela, and granddaughter Presley Briley; her daughter, Leslie Byerly and husband Logan, and grandson Lincoln Byerly; her son, Shelton Briley and wife Lindsay, and grandchildren Nova Briley and Ronin Briley; her son, Tucker Briley; her beloved dog, Sunny; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, former students, and dear friends.

Tammy’s greatest accomplishment was fulfilling her dream of becoming a mom and creating a loving family with Victor. She will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering devotion to family, infectious smile, and the countless lives she touched throughout her years. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, faith, laughter, and family will continue through all who knew and loved her.
