Funeral services for Sylvia D Meyers will be held at Harmony Baptist Missionary Church at 2:00pm on Monday, November 3, 2025, with the Reverend Tim Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery. The family has requested family and close friends only at interment. There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Laird Funeral. In lieu of flowers the family has adamantly requested donations to Sylvia’s favorite charity, St. Francis Rescue Nacogdoches. www.stfrancisrescuenac.com Ms. Meyers passed away peacefully at her home on October 23, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born on January 4th, 1950, in Nacogdoches as the youngest and last child to Robert Earl Wisener, Sr. and Mary Mariece Stone, she was preceded in death by; Sister Mary Miller of Weatherford and special niece Scarlette Harper also of Weatherford, Brother Robert Earl Wisener Jr of Nacogdoches, whom she cared diligently for until his death. She is survived by, her Sister Hazel K. Maxwell of Baytown, her children Wendy L Shepherd and husband Mike of Runaway Bay, Texas and son, David B Meyers of San Jose, California. She adored her only grandchildren, Chetleon Shepherd also of Runaway Bay and Evan Lee Shepherd and wife Courtney of Tomball as well as many and much-loved nieces and nephews and even great nieces and nephews.
Ms. Meyers graduated as Sylvia Darilene Wisener from Nacogdoches High School in 1968. She enrolled in SFASU in Fall of 1968 to major in Nursing. Although she never completed that degree, her initial desire to become a nurse never left her. Sylvia enrolled in the Angelina College nursing program and completed her degree in 1988.
