Sylvia Hill

Graveside service for Sylvia Hill, 70, of Nacogdoches will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 3, 2024 at Hill Cemetery with Pastor Ralph Sparks officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Laird Funeral Home

Mrs. Hill passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 in Nacogdoches.  She was born on July 16, 1952

Instead of a list of lives lived and lives lost, I’m writing a letter, because this is how our Mama should be remembered.

Sylvia Hill, aka “ChaCha, Cookie, Honey, Mama, Memaw” was the epitome of love.  She was a “God fearing, Praise God!, Hallelujah!, Happy Birthday Jesus!” praying kind of woman.  She LOVED…and she loved BIG!

Mama was married to our Daddy, John Hill, for over 50 years.  They had three children; Matthew, Charity and Kathleen.  She was an amazing Memaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Our Mama loved unconditionally with her whole heart and being.  She believed in everyone and trusted all.  You would never go hungry in Mama’s house.  Mama also stocked her pantry with plenty of items for family members whenever needed.  She always seemed to have 5, 9 or 20 of each item, just in case there was a grocery shortage.

Mama also took little gifts to special friends and took old magazines that were “gently used” to doctor’s offices because “people needed reading material when they were waiting”.

Mama was everything.  Daddy was the rock but Mama was the solid ground that he leaned on and God was the foundation in our home.

Sylvia Hill, aka ChaCha, Cookie, Honey, Mama, Memaw…will forever be cherished and never forgotten.  We are mourning the loss of you here on earth but rejoicing your reunion with Daddy, Charity and other loved ones in Heaven.

You are now with your other half on the “other side”.
