Funeral service for Susie Johnson, 78, of Nacogdoches will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until service time on Monday at Laird Funeral Home.
Susie Thrash Johnson, 78, went home to be with The Lord on April 12, 2022. She was born in Nacogdoches, the daughter of H.J. “Bud” and Willie Thrash. Susie attended Nacogdoches and graduated from Woden High School in 1961.
Over the years, Susie worked at Moore Business Forms, John S. Wyatt, The City of Nacogdoches Water Department, Laird Funeral Home, and Stephen F. Austin State University, where she retired in 2015.
She and James Johnson were married on February 10, 1962. They enjoyed 51 wonderful years together until his death in 2013.
Susie enjoyed cooking, traveling, and reading. Most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren. She rarely missed a ballgame or other events in which they participated.
She loved The Lord and her church home, Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as the church clerk for many years.
Susie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Webb and husband, Barry of Milam; grandchildren, Lauren Rome and husband Bryan of Tomball, Trace Greer and wife, Tiffany of Nacogdoches, Tatum Greer and fiancé, Cody Owens of New Braunfels, Tori Johnson of Garrison, Emily Webb of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Adam Marshall of Tomball; 6 great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Johnson of Nacogdoches as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members that she loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Johnson; son, Mark Johnson; sister Shirley Thrash and her brother, Mike Thrash and his wife, Annette.
