Stuart Cureton, 61, of Nacogdoches passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, He was born on March 12, 1963 in Houston, Texas to the late Aaron Thomas and Carolyn Joan Cureton.
Memorial Service for Mr. Cureton will be 11:30 am Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Laird Funeral Home. A small reception will follow the service at Laird Funeral Home.
Stuart was born on March 12, 1963 in Houston and raised in Tomball. He attended school at Tomball ISD and graduated in 1981. During his time at TISD, he was involved in numerous activities and groups and was awarded for his accomplishments. In Junior High, he was elected as a member of The National Junior Honor Society; in high school, he received the “Star Greenhand” awarded for Tomball FFA and was recognized for “Outstanding Accomplishments in Agriculture” as well as given the “Overall Excellence” award.
Stuart continued his education at Victoria College, graduating with his Associate in Arts degree. His next step in education was in Nacogdoches at Stephen F. Austin State University. It was here that Stuart received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. Stuart decided being a teacher was where his heart was leading him, therefore, he began the journey towards being an educator. He earned teaching certificates in Biology, Physical Science, Earth Science, Physics, and Horticulture. He began his career at Northwood Baptist Academy in Nacogdoches in January 1994 and remained there for 4 ½ years until he was able to devote himself completely to the home school teaching career that he began in 1997. Stuart followed this dream for the next 20 years. He touched many lives through his Christian faith, teaching, and sharing the love of Christ. Stuart is survived by his brother, Kenneth Cureton & wife, Judy; nephews, Kory Cureton & wife Erin and Adam Cureton & wife Danielle; great nieces & nephew, Kinsley, Callie & Lane; step nieces & step nephew, Jennifer Comer Webster & family, Jessica Comer & family and Christopher Comer & family; aunt, Helen Sadler and longtime friends, Mayra Aleman, Rick & Angela Autrey & friends at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy & Carolyn Cureton; grandparents, A.D. & Ida Bell Cureton and Clifford & Clara Wilkins, as well as numerous aunts & uncles.
Stuart’s family will hold him gently in their hearts and miss him dearly. His vibrant personality, beautiful blue eyes and huge heart will forever be with them. They have found great joy knowing that he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
