Sherry was born on November 2, 1946, the daughter of Thomas Lee and Jessie Ray Leonard Martin and left her earthly home on August 30, 2021, in Nacogdoches. As a child, her father honorably served in the US Airforce which allowed them to travel and see many different areas of the country. In the early 60's she and her mother returned to Nacogdoches where she attended NHS. There she met and eventually married her high school sweetheart, Gerall. They attended Lilly Grove Baptist Church together which is where Sherry made her profession of faith. She served in many different roles over her 50 years at Lilly Grove. She worked for Texas Workforce Commission for 25 years, retiring as an hearing appeals officer. During these years Sherry and Gerall raised two children. They enjoyed family vacations together or just weekends camping at the lake. Eventually they became grandparents and Sherry took on a new role as Mimi. She loved supporting the grandkids in sports and events and attended as many as she could. Church remained a constant in her life and she joined FBC Nac in 2011. There she enjoyed singing in the choir, Sunday school and bible studies. Sherry is survived by her children, Kari Hill and husband, Brent and Robbie Weatherly and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Julia Whitehead and husband, Richie, Hunter Weatherly, Collin Weatherly, Morgan Weatherly and Karissa Hill and her precious great grandson, Cohen Whitehead; sister-in-law, Evalyn Sopko; brother-in-law, Dr. James Weatherly and his wife, Dr. Gail Weatherly. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerall; brother-in-law, James Sopko and her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Martin.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Sopko, Matt Sopko, Richie Whitehead, Greg Grigsby, Jeff Owens, and Marc Hill.
