Sherry grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas, graduating from Nacogdoches High School. Sherry met the love of her life, Bill Pinkston, in Nacogdoches. They were wed on June 11, 1976, and spent a wonderful 47 years raising their family together. At the age of 30, she decided to pursue her education and become an RN and proudly worked for 30 years before retiring. Sherry adored her family and spending time with them was one of her greatest joys. On family birthdays, Sherry would call them to sing them happy birthday in the worst rendition possible. Her family was her greatest accomplishment, she loved sharing family stories. On holidays, the family would enjoy gathering together, playing games and each other's company. She enjoyed traveling in their RV and fishing trips. Sherry had a passion for decorating and would spend time antiquing to acquire things for her home, and even for others. She also enjoyed spending time outside doing yard work, planting a garden and would find little projects to keep her busy. Sherry had a love for animals, especially her dogs that she would dress up. Her mother passed down a love of shoes and she had a closet full to show it. Sherry adored Hershey Kisses, and you better not touch her stash. Sherry was an active member of First Baptist Nacogdoches, and enjoyed the women's bible study there. She loved going on girl’s trips with her friends. Sherry was in a gospel quartet called “Hearts in Harmony” and took pleasure in singing and spending time with them. She took pleasure in giving her time to many events including the Holiday Bazaar Fundraiser held by the Nacogdoches Treatment Center. Pinky or Pinky Maw, as she was known by her loving family, was a treasure in this world that will be greatly missed.

Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Bill Pinkston; her daughter, Stephanie Malott and husband, Jason; her son, Scott Pinkston; grandchildren, Taylor Price and Trey Pleasant; sister, Brenda Newberg and husband, Jim; numerous nieces and nephews; and an abundance of friends that she would call family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Pat Grimes.

Serving as pallbearers will be Taylor Price, Trey Pleasant, Porter Payne, Russell Hornbuckle, John Woods, and Jack Erwin.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Nacogdoches Animal Shelter to support Sherry’s love of animals.
