Sherry Ann (Lucas) Kent, 85 of Douglass, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in Nacogdoches, Tx.

Sherry was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to Joe and Inez Mann on January 5, 1938.  The family soon moved to Hagerman, New Mexico, where she attended school and graduated.  Sherry was a cheerleader, voted “Best All Around” and class favorite three years in a row.  Hagerman is where she met and married the love of her life, Fritz Kent.

Soon after they were married, Fritz joined the United States Navy.  They moved to many different places and met many dear friends and had many great adventures along the way in their 64 years of marriage.  Although Sherry never forgot her roots in Hagerman and the family whom she treasured until the day she passed.  She visited as often as their busy military life would allow.  She had a strong relationship with God and attended Grace Bible Church faithfully.  Previously she attended Calvery Chapel in Ruidoso, New Mexico where she volunteered to work in the nursery for 18 years.  She loved children and was a talented artist.  Sherry worked in many different jobs, with every move, there were different job opportunities.  She found her calling in accounting and bookkeeping.  Sherry was strong, independent and a kind loving person.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Sherry is survived by her son Robert Kent and daughter Donna Branch.  Siblings Ina Jo Bautista, Rita McCaslin, and Rex Mann.  Grandchildren Selena Dixion, Jason Perkins, Jason Kent, Joe Kent, Tabitha Pangelina, Virginia Morris, and 15 great grandchildren.

Sherry is preceded in death by her husband Fracis Kent; daughter Susan Perkins; grandson Joshua Perkins; parents Inez and Joe Mann; sister Birdie Marie Watson; and brother Neil Lucas.
