Sarah passed away on March 22, 2025, in Garrison surrounded by her family. She was born on August 22, 1942, in Nacogdoches, to the late Henry Harrison and Annie Lucille (Kerr) Lunsford.
Sarah Ann Hebert was born on August 22, 1942, to Annie Lucille Kerr and Henry Harrison Lunsford. She married Gerald Hebert on June 3, 1961. They were married for sixty-three years and spent most of their life together in Appleby, Texas. Sarah was a retired nurse. She worked as the Director of Surgery at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, Nacogdoches Medical Center, and Mother Frances in Tyler, Texas, for a majority of her career. Sarah also served as a member of the Eastern Star (OES).
Sarah was a truly remarkable woman—a woman of unwavering faith and love. She lived a life committed to the Lord and her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and a compassionate nurse. Sarah loved Jesus, music, the beach, flowers, collecting antiques, sunshine, reading, and spending time with her family.
As a wife, she was the steady foundation of her family. Her love for her partner was unwavering, a bond built on years of shared memories, trials and tribulations, laughter, and mutual respect. She stood by through thick and thin, always offering support and love with an open heart. Together, they built a life that was rich with warmth and joy, a testament to the strength of their partnership.
Sarah and Gerald were members of University Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, where they served together in their earlier years. Sarah was the embodiment of hospitality, always ready to listen, care, and to offer a word of comfort. Her faith was as vibrant as her spirit, and she was a constant reminder to us all of God’s deep love and mercy. She was a true prayer warrior, and her love for others knew no bounds.
As a mother and grandmother, she gave everything. Sarah taught us all the true meaning of selflessness. Her love was unconditional, her patience was endless, and her devotion was unmatched. She raised her children with kindness, wisdom, and grace, nurturing them into the people they are today. She taught them the importance of love, compassion, and hard work, and those lessons will live on through each of them for generations to come.
As a nurse, her career was not just a job; it was a calling. She worked tirelessly, often going above and beyond, always putting others before herself. She was a healer, a confidant, and a friend to so many, bringing comfort and care to those who needed it most. Her heart, just like her hands, was always open to those in need, and her legacy in the healthcare community will continue to inspire and guide those who follow in her footsteps.
Though we grieve her absence, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is now in complete peace and pain free resting in the loving arms of her King and Savior. She was a beacon of light in this world, and though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will continue to guide us. We find comfort in knowing that her love, her lessons, and her example will live on in each of our hearts.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Gerald Hebert Sr.; her children, Jerry Hebert, Shannon Hebert and wife Rhonda, Renee Hebert; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Sarah is preceded in death by her parents, Annie Lucille Kerr and Henry Harrison Lunsford; her sister; and brother.
