Ruby Wells Obituary

A graveside service for Ruby Ann Wells, 82, will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 6, 2026 in Kingwood, Texas at Second Baptist Church in the Deacon’s Parlor.

Ruby Ann Wells dedicated her life to teaching young people.  From the time she was a child, she enjoyed every aspect of her education.  She was involved in the debate team and Nacogdoches High School band, was band sweetheart and member of the Rainbow Girls.  She graduated from Nacogdoches High School and continued her own education at Stephen F. Austin State University, attaining a Bachelor of Arts and then at Prairie View A&M where she received her Master of Education and became certified in Counseling and Administration.  Her career took her to Aldine, Texas where she taught English, Drama and Debate at McArthur High School for 7 years.  She also spent some time working at North Harris County College teaching Adult Education.  She then moved to Spring ISD to assist in the opening of Westfield High School where she served in the capacity of Counselor and Debate Coach, eventually becoming the Assistant Principal and filled the role of Principal during summer school.  Finally, she served as Energy Manager and Financial Aid Advisor for both Spring ISD and Lone Star College until her retirement from the education world in 1988.

Although her work as an educator was primarily in the school systems, Ruby Ann also enjoyed being a part of the church.  She was a member of Fredonia Hill Baptist in Nacogdoches and Second Baptist Church once she moved to the Houston area.  She found tremendous joy participating in and helping to teach bible studies, Awana’s and choir.

Ruby is survived by her brother, Billy C. Wells & wife Laura; niece, Terri Hasley Khan; nephew, Scott Hasley & wife Karen; great nephews and nieces, Tyler Khan & wife Sydney, Morgan Hasley, Chris Hasley & wife Shelby and Cole Hasley; great great nieces, Raylee Hasley and Aurora Khan and lifelong friend, Carol Ann Hays.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil C. and Ruby Lee Wells and sister, Tommie Jo Wells Hasley.

Memorials may be made to Nacogdoches Treatment Center at 119 Hughes Street, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961.
