Roxie Joy Preuss

A visitation for Roxie Joy (Rush) Preuss, 82, of Etoile will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am Monday, December 1, 2025, at Shirley Creek Baptist Church in Etoile.

Mrs. Preuss passed away on November 15, 2025, in Tyler. She was born on December 11, 1942, in Rising Star, Texas. 

Roxie grew up in Muleshoe, Texas where she attended schools there. While she was working as a telephone operator in Anchorage, Alaska, Roxie met the man of her dreams, David Preuss. The two were married in 1984. They spent a wonderful 36 years together before his passing in 2020.

Roxie enjoyed spending hours cross-stitching. She was a homebody who loved nothing more than sitting on her porch swing watching the sunsets on the lake. Roxie had a passion for all the creatures around her place. She fed the birds and wildlife and loved watching them from her windows.

Roxie was a member of Shirley Creek Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school, vacation bible school, and playing the piano. She loved spending time with her family and loved them completely.

Roxie is survived by her daughters, Sherri Schwartz (Donald), Shawnda Chapel, and Shelly McCurry (Jesse); and numerous grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Harold Preuss; parents, Dewey Frank and Millie (Sliger) Rush; sons, Billy Joe Knowlton and Rodney Knowlton; brothers, Doyle Rush, Junior Rush, and James Rush; and sister, Marie Thomas.
