Funeral services for Rosemarie Stroud, 89, of Nacogdoches, Texas, will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Westside Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Wilson and Bro. Jackie Yates officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home.
Rosemarie (Iost) Stroud was born May 29, 1935 in Ansbach, Germany to Emil and Lina Iost and died December 13, 2024 in Nacogdoches, Texas at the age of 89 years old. Devoted wife, mother and servant of Christ, Rose, as she was affectionately known, dedicated her life to others and her family. She earned the German equivalent of an Associate’s Degree from the University of Erlangen, Germany. After coming to America with her enduring husband John, Rose became a naturalized citizen in May 1964. She later earned her Bachelor of Arts in education and history which would ultimately lead to a career in teaching at Copperas Cove Elementary School, Nuernberg American High School and Hohenfels Middle High School. After retiring from teaching, Rose continued her service to others through her many church activities as a part of Westside Missionary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.
Rose Stroud is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband John David Stroud Sr., stepsister Lotte Krodel, and her eldest son John David Stroud Jr.
She is survived by her children Hank and Katherine Sherrill of Wichita Fallls, Texas; Vernon and Carolyn Watts of Henlyfield, Mississippi; Martin and Cathy Stroud of Wesson Mississippi; Thomas and Vanessa Stroud of Terrell, Texas; Shirley Stroud of Richardson, Texas; and James and Arianne Stroud of Corpus Christi. She is also survived by her grandchildren J.D, Sarah, Lindsey, Jonathan, Cory, Kayla, Rachel, Erin, Jessica, Corrinn, Lina, Sean, Kayleigh, Olivia and 20 great grandchildren and adopted in love daughter Marian Main of Richardson, and brother-in-law Willis Stroud and wife Cherry of Calhoun City, Mississippi.
Serving as pallbearers will be JD Stroud, Jonathan Watts, Cory Stroud, Cody Ezell, Daniel Snodgrass and Sean Sherrill. Honorary pallbearers are Eric Lee, William Marsh and Alex Duda.
Absent from the body, but present with the Lord.
