Mr. Sitton passed away on January 10, 2022, in Nacogdoches. He was born August 7, 1942, in Nacogdoches.
As a child, Ronnie grew up with his parents on the dairy farm and helped with raising their cattle in Central Heights. Just as every young man did then, he found a love of hunting and fishing and the general outdoors. Ronnie was quite the adventurous young man and took every chance he could to be in the woods. As he grew older and graduated high school, he furthered his education by obtaining his Bachelors degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Ronnie also found that having children was the most rewarding thing in a man’s life. He loved his children without boundaries. He spent many hours following Kim around to pageants and loved watching his beautiful daughter as she grew into adulthood with the same beauty she had as a child. He also spent many days with Kristi in Galveston and on Rayburn. Their days were filled with laughter and making memories as they shared their love of outdoors. Shane was quite talented at motocross and Ronnie followed him all around the country watching him do what he loved. They were not just father and son; they were best friends. Ronnie, or Papa Sitton, as he was later called by the grandchildren, found joy in the simple things. He spent time with friends and laughed until the wee hours of the morning. He knew life was short and was happiest when surrounded by the ones he loved the most.
Ronnie spent over 30 years working at Stephen F. Austin State University where he ended his career as the Assistant to the Director of the University Center. He loved the time he spent there and the friendships he acquired were some of his best.
Ronnie is survived by his children, Shane Sitton of Lumberton, Kim Sitton Myer and husband, Shane of Tatum and Kristi Sitton of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Christopher Kammer and wife, Kelli of League City, Wills Myer of Tatum, Rustin Sitton of Lumberton, Sophia Furnival of Oceanside, California and Skyler Furnival of Ft.
