A memorial graveside for Roland Don Blankenship, 78, of Nacogdoches will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery. Roland passed away on September 9, 2025, in Nacogdoches. He was born on June 1, 1947, in Nacogdoches to the late Jimmy Dale and Anna Laura (Layton) Blankenship.
Roland was raised in Nacogdoches. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School where he was well known for his skills on the football field. Roland enjoyed being outdoors. He loved fishing and traveling.
He married the love of his life, Gail, and the two spent 46 years together. He and Gail raised their family and grandchildren with love and passed on that spirit to them. While it took him a while to heal from losing Gail in an unexpected way, they spent years together, and it would be a year and a half after her passing that he would follow her path to a kingdom in the sky.
Roland is survived by his son, Casey Blankenship and wife, Sheila of Hitchcock; grandchildren, Jacob Blankenship, Josh Blankenship, Ashley Blankenship, Brianna Jaso, and Morgan Blankenship; and great-grandchild, Lennon Rose Blankenship.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Blankenship; son, Kyle Blankenship; parents, J.D. and Laura Blankenship; and brother, Jimmy Blankenship.
