Robert Allan Winberg

Graveside service for Robert Winberg, 73, of Garrison, will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, December 2 at Holly Springs Cemetery with Pastor Homer Murray officiating..

Robert Allan Winberg, or Bob, as most knew him, graduated from college in Minnesota with a degree in law enforcement.  He attained a position with the Burlington Northern Railroad as an officer and worked there for 10 years.  He then became a corrections officer at Hennepin County Department of Corrections where he retired in 2007. He also was a proud veteran of Vietnam.  He honorably served in the US Navy from 1969-1972.

Bob loved to travel and in September, just after his retirement, he was on an Alaskan cruise and met a lady who stole his heart.  He and Diane knew there was a bit of destiny involved and God had His hand in this chance encounter.  On January 4, 2008, they were joined in marriage.  Together, they both were able to fulfill many dreams and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Their memories will forever be cherished.

Bob was a man of great compassion and had an honest heart.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing but was more often found at the shooting range or reloading ammunition.  He and Diane often traveled many miles for supplies he needed to continue his passion.  He also thoroughly loved music.  He had several collections, mostly made up of country and gospel.  He derived his love of music from an early age when he was in the band while attending high school. 

Bob is survived by his wife, Diane Clifton Winberg of Garrison; sons, Robert Winberg & wife, Brooke of Minnesota and Paul Winberg & wife, Miranda of Minnesota; grandchildren, Robert Winberg, Thor Winberg, Scarlet Winberg and Ruby Winberg, all of Minnesota; and sister, Harian Rick of Minnesota; he is also survived by his bonus grandchildren, Jaci, Sydney and Weston Lunsford all of Garrison.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Julie Winberg; father, Robert Ulysses Winberg and mother, Marie Harian Preble.
