Robert Nelson Obituary

Funeral services for Robert Nelson, 88, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 11:00am, on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Grace Bible Church in Nacogdoches with Dr. Brent Bullard, officiating.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00am to 11:00am on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Grace Bible Church, Nacogdoches, Texas.

Robert W. (Bob) Nelson was raised in Daisetta Texas and graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from SFA in 1954 in Chemistry and Mathematics. He served 8 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

Bob met his beloved wife, Jean Graham in 1952 while he was working at the SFA Theater and they married in November of that year. They were married for 61 years until her death in 2013.

Bob worked in many positions at NIBCO where he made many friends over a career of 43 years.

Bob enjoyed wood working and making many beautiful pieces that are treasured by his family. He was a writer of poetry and stories and could quote many poems, prose and bible verses. Bob was the family technology expert earning him the nickname Granddaddy Gadget. He loved to sing and was a member of the Grace Bible Church Choir for many years. He often entertained the family with a random story or song that he had etched in his memory. His family marveled at his ability to recall. Bob and Jean joined Grace Bible Church in 1956 where he served as an elder and as church treasurer for many years.

One of Bob’s favorite scripture passages was Job 19:25-27. “25 I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. 26 And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God, 27 I myself will see him with my own eyes-I, and not another. How my own heart yearns within me!”

Bob passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.
