Robert Lee Broadwater, 85, of Nacogdoches, passed away on March 19, 2025, in Nacogdoches. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Laird Funeral Home.
Robert Lee Broadwater was born on October 10, 1939 to the late Ezra Lee and Bobbie (Bales) Broadwater. Lee grew up in Houston, Texas where he attended San Jacinto High school and played football until he graduated. After school, Lee joined the Army serving his term and coming home to start his journey in life.
Lee was so thankful that the Lord brought him to Nacogdoches where he found his true calling as a bus driver for special needs children. He loved his job and took pride in being the light in the children’s eyes when he would sing to them. He also built wheelchair ramps for some of his kids that rode his bus.
Lee was a consultant witness to the Lord for his sobriety. He was a member of University Baptist Church on North Street for years. He played guitar and sang for senior citizens at senior living centers.
He enjoyed doing yardwork and working in his plants. Lee always had a good sense of humor and joyful. He was a fantastic storyteller who loved to share what the Lord had done for him. He was a true blessing to all that came in touch with him. He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed.
Lee is survived by his sister, Toni Vance of Wimberley, Tx and his niece, Kelli Vance of Wimberley, Tx.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Bobbie Broadwater; sister, Patsy Partin; and nephew, David Partin.
