Richard Burl Reid

A Visitation for Richard Burl Reid, 65, of Nacogdoches will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Laird Funeral Home. A private graveside and interment will be held at a later date. 

Richard Burl Reid was born on June 5, 1956 to Robert Harvey Reid Jr. and Hazel Gaynell “Black” Reid in Nacogdoches, Texas. Richard graduated Nacogdoches High School in 1975, and later attended college. He moved back to Nacogdoches and started working at a local grocery store, of which he dedicated 38 years of his life serving his community. To Richard, Nacogdoches was not only his home, but his paradise. His favorite pass times were watching wrestling either live or, on the television with his nephew and cousin, and watching Lumberjack basketball with his close friends. In the town of Nacogdoches, everyone knew Richard for his kind personality and down to earth way of life.

Richard is succeeded in death by his sisters, Sally Allen, and husband Larry, Robin Swearingen and husband James; nephews, Jeff Allen, John Allen, and Christopher Swearingen; niece, Christina Swearingen; and many great nieces and nephews.

Richard is preceded in death by his father, Robert Harvey Reid Jr. and his mother, Hazel Gaynell “Black” Reid.

Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Allen, John Allen, Christopher Swearingen, Blake Iry, Logan Swearingen, Thomas Wilson, and Robbie Patterson.
