Ray Singleton Obituary

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2022, in the Fellowship Hall of North Point Church of God.

Claude “Ray” Singleton, 93, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away on April 3, 2022, in Nacogdoches.  

Claude was born in Tonkawa, Oklahoma to Claude and Ruby Singleton on June 15, 1928.  He was married to his wife, Barbara Jeannette for 68 wonderful years. He met his Barbara Jeannette in Fort Worth, Texas and later married her in Lubbock, Texas where he grew up. He attended Tyler ISD and Tyler Junior College along with also earning a Master Watchmaking Certificate.  Claude served in the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing 42, camping and was a self-employed custom home builder, and a very good mechanic.  He is known to his friends and family as “Ray.”   He was a Master Mason, and a Millennium Honor Roll member of the NRA.  He was also a member of the North Point Church of God. For 14 years, he lived his dream life, of having a cabin off grid in Colorado, and a small place here in Nacogdoches. 

Claude is survived by his wife, Jeannette Singleton; children, Carl and wife Norma Singleton, Steve and wife Mary Singleton, David and wife Melissa Singleton, Allen and wife Beth Singleton; sister, Franceil  Singleton Davis; brother, Harold and wife Norma Jean Singleton; grandchildren, Brandy Singleton, Alesha Marie Singleton, Nicholas Singleton, DeWayne Foraker, Jessica Singleton Wheeler, Clay Singleton, Chase Singleton, Paige Singleton Kennemer, Charlotte Singleton Schuster, Anna Garsee Borgestede, Derek Garsee, Leah Garsee, Crystal Lewis, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Sr. and Ruby Singleton; brothers, Lester, Glen, Jerry, Marvin; and sisters, Ruby and Marie.
