Priscilla Precella Obituary

Mass of Christian burial for Priscilla Alvarez Precella, 75, of Nacogdoches will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Monsignor James E. Young officiating.  Interment will follow at Procella Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 6pm.

Priscilla was born on August 26, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Flora Alvarez.  In 1970, she met a young man and married the love of her life, Joe Precella.  The two met in San Antonio while Joe was on leave from his military duties.  He asked her to dance and when she asked his name, and he responded Precella, she thought he was joking.  However, her mind was hearing Priscilla Precella and just a few short months later, they were married on March 20, 1971.  Priscilla and Joe were in several duty stations after he joined DPS and finally were able to make their way back to East Texas.  They were the parents of two daughters whom Priscilla adored above all else.  She also went to work at SFA for a period of time and then at Lufkin State School where she retired after almost 30 years.  Priscilla was a wife, mother and “Nana” and was completely dedicated to each of those titles.  She also loved working with her roses and playing with the grandchildren.  However, when football season rolled around, everyone was involved in making finger foods and snacks for the big games.  She was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan and has followed Patrick Mahomes from the time he was in high school, which made her a Kansas City Chief fan too.

Priscilla is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joe Precella; daughters, Julia Precella and Brandy Precella; grandchildren, Nickolas Precella, Gabriel Precella and Evelynn Precella; sister, Adalia Perez and husband, Frank Perez; brothers-in-law, Herman Precella & wife, Mary, Jimmy Precella and Michael Precella wife, Jane; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Flora Padilla Alvarez.

Serving as pallbearers will be Nickolas Precella, Gabriel Precella, Billy Dill, Michael Dill, Jimmy Precella and Julio Precella.  Honorary pallbearer is Frank Perez III.
