Priscilla Bentley King, age 62, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 22, 2021, surrounded by her immediate family at her residence in Martinsville, TX. She was born on December 26, 1958, in Nacogdoches, TX, to Garth and JoAnna Bentley and big sister Phyllis Bentley. Priscilla was raised in Nacogdoches as a young child and then moved to Longview, TX, where she graduated from high school in 1977. She then returned to Nacogdoches to attend Stephen F. Austin University where she obtained her Bachelors degree in Education in 1980. Priscilla was a devoted member of Chi Omega Sorority while attending SFA and was a life-long sister who was committed to their philanthropies and friendships. After graduation, Priscilla began her career as an elementary school teacher in Kountze, TX. She also taught for many years in Bridge City, TX, and Magnolia, TX. She was a dedicated and passionate teacher for 33 years, and she loved helping children with learning disabilities gain confidence and proficiency in their ability to read.
Priscilla leaves behind her loving husband of 40 years, Randy King. They met as students at Stephen F. Austin University in 1978 in Nacogdoches, TX, and were married on November 8, 1980. Together raised two wonderful boys who have grown into successful and loving men. Randy and Priscilla’s children and their spouses are Ben King and wife Heather of Montgomery, TX, and Geoffrey King and wife Jacqueline of Palmetto Bay, FL. She was also the most amazing Nonnie to her five grandchildren, AnnElise King (12), Langston King (7), Mason King (7), Ethan King (4), and Austin King (23mo). Priscilla also leaves behind her loving sister Phyllis Bentley of Martinsville, TX. She was preceded in death by her father Garth Bentley (age 92 in 2007) and her mother JoAnna Bentley (age 95 in 2019).
Priscilla loved her family and friends deeply. She was the most thoughtful, joyful, and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and dear friend. Her laugh and smile could light up a room, and she had the gift of making others feel so loved and cherished while in her company. She was so strong in her faith and resilient in her passion for life. No matter her pain or struggles, she would not complain and always had a smile on her face, even in her final moments here with us. She showed others that true joy, peace, and strength comes from God alone. As a life-long teacher, she taught us all how to be better people through her examples of authentic love, endurance, and ability to find joy in all situations.
Priscilla enjoyed cooking for her family, baking for her grandchildren and friends, crafting with her sister, gardening with her husband, and planning fun adventures and events for all her loved ones. She always made sure that her family and friends would have a wonderful and memorable time when spending occasions and holidays together. Her kind heart, positivity, and thoughtfulness will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Serving as pallbearers includes Steve Blanchard, Blake Blanchard, Commander Robert Blanchard, US Navy, Ryan Johnson, Eric Winzer, Scott Kinzcskowski, Chris DeBreaux, and Jason Rees.
