Peter "Bo" Leon Carroll

A graveside service for Peter "Bo" Leon Carroll, 67, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 2:30pm on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Moral Cemetery officiated by Chris Burris. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Laird Funeral Home. Mr. Carroll passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, in Houston. He was born on September 9, 1958, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the late Leon Carroll and Nancy Clack.

Bo was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the son of Leon Carroll and Nancy Nunnery Clack.  He was a proud graduate of Sonora High School where he played football and basketball and was voted Most Handsome in 1974.  During his time in Sonora, Bo enjoyed nothing more than being on the ranch riding horses.  His love of animals went beyond horses.  He often picked up any stray animal that crossed his path because he had a weak spot for them.  He was an avid outdoorsman and spent many great times fishing in Devil’s River in Southwest Texas.  However, his favorite place was on the back porch drinking coffee and listening to music while he admired the beauty that God placed around him. 

Bo was a hard worker and possessed a great flair for making friends.  He was kindhearted and enjoyed doing things for others to make sure they were happy and would literally give someone the shirt off his back if it would make their life easier.  This was never more obvious than while he worked at Rex Perry Autoplex.  He was the happy guy who kept everyone on their toes.  They were all like family to him.  His 10 years there made a great impact on not only his coworkers but also his customers.  Bo also found great joy in volunteering for local functions in Nacogdoches including Toys for Tots during Christmas time and for United Way where he helped to mentor young elementary school students and guide them toward furthering their education.  He will forever be missed but always remembered.

Bo is survived by his daughter, Kari Schachere and husband, Russ and their son, Marshall Schachere; brother, Charles Carroll and wife Melissa and their three children, Tristan, Abigail and Holden and their grandchildren, Wryn and Adelaide; life partner, Bonita Bullock and her daughter, Melanie Vardeman and husband, Clay and their children, Jordan and Landon and her daughter Lisa Hale and husband Shane and their children Collin and Hollie and her husband Nathan and their children, Ava, Amelia and Alaina and his step sister, Becky Hartje.  Bo also kept a close relationship with his stepsister, Debra Hill who was a consistent support in his life.
