Patricia "Pat" (Davis) Goodwin

Funeral service for Patricia “Pat” Goodwin, 78, of Nacogdoches, will be held at Laird Funeral Home on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 11:00am with Brother Charles Rikard of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Douglass Cemetery, in Douglass, TX. Visitation will be held at Laird Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Mrs. Goodwin passed away on September 12, 2022, in Nacogdoches.

Patricia was born in Pioneer, LA to Duard and Edna Davis on February 17, 1944. She went to high school at Pioneer High School and graduated in 1963. She was a stay-at-home mother and wife who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, gardening, sewing, and cooking. She took care of her whole family and put them ahead of herself.  She had a small daycare in her home for years and all her babies loved her. She was “MY” to them.  She had two grandchildren that she took care of from birth until they started school and continued to pick them up even after that.  Her pride was for Kaylie to wear something different and handsewn to school every day of her kindergarten year.  When she would make Kaylie a dress, she would make one for her doll to match.  Her grandkids were a bright light in her life.  She was first and foremost a wife, she adored her husband. She met the love of her life, Billy Goodwin, and married him on October 5, 1963, in Pioneer, LA. They were married for almost 59 years. Patricia was involved in Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Billy Goodwin, of Nacogdoches; daughter, Karen Goodwin; son, Marty Goodwin and wife, Ashley; sisters, Bettye Howard and husband, Michael, Odie Davis, Debbie Massey and husband, David; brother, Garry Davis and wife, Kelly; sister-in-law, Pat Hendrix and husband, Leroy; grandchildren, Lonnie Lawson and wife, Christina, Kaylie Vaught and husband Cody, Chloe Brooks; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Duard and Edna Davis; brothers, Jimmy Davis, Tommy Davis, D.W. Davis; sisters, Janice Isaac, Joyce Acree, Gertrude Mann; and special friend, Opal “Gran” Morse.

Serving as pallbearers are Billy Jack Worsham, Rodney Simpson, Willie Gonzalez, Mike Wicker, Lonnie Lawson, and Cody Vaught.  Serving as honorary pallbearer is Brad Laidler.
