Myrtle Burrow Obituary

Funeral services for Myrtle Burrow, 99, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. David Coleman officiating.  Interment will follow at Upper Melrose Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Laird Funeral Home. Mrs. Burrow passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in Nacogdoches.  She was born on February 10, 1922 in Cisco, Texas, the daughter of William and Ollie Mae Wells Sanders.

Myrt, as most knew her, grew up surrounded by her siblings and together, they were taught to do things “the old-fashioned way”.  They knew the extreme value of a dollar and an honest days work.  She loved her family more than anything.  As a young woman, she worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone company and through the years, held positions at Sanger Harris, Foley’s and had a short stint as a waitress when she was younger.  While in north central Texas, she met a dapper young man at Cotton Palace in Waco and the two were immediately smitten.  She and Arthur Lee “Ott” Burrow were married on December 13, 1941 and began their life together.  Their marriage was the definition of love.  They were happiest when they were side by side.  She was the epitome of a wonderful wife and mother.  Myrt’s girls were the single best accomplishment she had and when she became a grandmother, her heart simply overflowed with joy.  Spending almost 100 years watching her family multiply to great numbers made her days and life complete.  After Ott’s passing in 1993, after spending over 50 years together, Myrt cherished the memories they made as they traveled and lived in several different places and saw many things together.  However, her favorite place was in Matagorda, Texas, where she was closest to the ocean.  Although she loved being on the lakes and rivers, she was happiest with a simple ride along the beach or relaxing moment in the sand.  During the last years of her life, Myrt enjoyed the wonders of the simple life and spent many days on the porch watching the birds and relishing in each moment she had.  Her wonderful spirit, dedication to family and unending love will forever remain in the hearts of those closest to her.

Myrt is survived by her daughter, Cindi Rogers and husband, Marcuss of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Leah Gilbert and husband, Tommy of Aiken, Marc Rogers and wife, Patricia of Kingwood, Lee Rogers and wife, Jeanette of Livingston, Billy Wayne Lynch of Nacogdoches, Cindy Willhite and husband, Bobby of Van Vleck and Jason Langston of McGregor; 25 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She if preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ott Burrow; daughter, Stephanie Langston; granddaughter, Dianne Lee Rushing; great grandson, Daulton; and each of her siblings: Grace Ford, Amber Daniels, Toodley Morgan, Buddy Sanders, Slick Sanders, Era Devenport, Shine Sanders, Betty Tynes, Nina Groth, Bruce Sanders and Nellie Elin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Gilbert, Marc Rogers, Lee Rogers, Justin Laird, Marcuss Rogers, Christopher Flores and Ashley Laird.
