A memorial graveside service for Myrtie Morris will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Tyler Memorial Park & Cemetery officiated by Reta Lynn Spradlin.
Mrs. Morris passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024. She was born on June 17, 1932 in Naples, Texas.
Myrtie was a true lady and took great pride in her wonderful family. Her life with her husband began while she was working at JCPenney in Tyler. Her talents provided her with the opportunity to be the window decorator and she caught the eye of a fellow employee. After a brief courtship, she and Jesse were married in Tyler and spent the next 65 years at each other’s side. Their family grew with the births of their children and to say they were proud of them would be understated. JCPenney transferred them to Nacogdoches and Myrtie went to work at the SFA bookstore. They later opened Bradmorr Fabrics in Lufkin, Corsicana and Paris, Texas. Together, they built a life they cherished. The two of them attended church at Fredonia Hill Baptist and later at Northwood Baptist Church. Their ventures also included attending SFA Basketball games, which they rarely missed.
When she became a grandmother, she experienced the greatest joy in her life. Granny, as they called her, had quite an imagination and each grandchild knew they had some great adventure planned for them when they visited. Her house was always filled with the best kind of love and was the core of many memories that will last their entire lifetime.
Myrtie’s also enjoyed things such as having tea parties, playing games and picnics. Later in her life, up into her 80’s, she could also be found taking leisurely walks through the neighborhood, as she relished in the beautiful things that God made.
She is survived by her children, Jill Grifin (Vince), Jack Morris (Rhonda), Ken Morris (Daniel); grandchildren, Jennifer Morris, Chase Griffin (Erin), Megan Griffin, Kristi Young (Josh), Erin Thering (Nick); great grandchildren, Gage Griffin, Tyler Potter, Finley Morris, Vaughn Griffin, Bo Griffin, Demi Griffin, Kaylea Young, Tobin Young and Piper Young; great -great grandchild, Riley Griffin; sisters, Reta Spradlin and Betsy Gardner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
