Mildred Joan Edge, age 89, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 16, 2026, in Longview, Texas.
She was born on June 30, 1936, in Ohio to her loving parents, Robert and Lorena Brooks, who preceded her in death. Mildred attended and graduated from Greenford High School.
Mildred was a devoted mother to her son, Jacob Brooks Edge, 42, of Cushing. She loved her son deeply and spent her life caring not only for him, but for everyone around her. She was a second mother to many of Jacob’s friends and a faithful friend to countless others.
A talented and passionate artist, Mildred found great joy in crochet and needlepoint. The beautiful pieces she lovingly created are treasured by all who received them. She delighted in sharing stories of her many adventures, often surprising others with the breadth of her experiences and the life she had lived.
Mildred was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Apostolic Lighthouse Church. She loved the Lord deeply and shared His love with everyone she encountered. Her life was a testament to her faith, expressed through kindness, service, and unwavering dependability.
In her apartment building, Mildred became a caretaker to many, always going above and beyond to ensure no one was left out and everyone felt cared for. She was thoughtful, dependable, and selfless — a true servant’s heart.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith that will continue to bless those who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Laird Funeral Home with Rev. Jordan Grindle officiating. Interment will follow at McKnight Cemetery.
