Mr. Phillips passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was born on January 5, 1956, in Nacogdoches, Texas to buddy and Patsy Phillips.
Mike was born and raised in Nacogdoches, Texas. In his early years he played football for Nacogdoches High School and enjoyed every minute on the field. He was a proud graduate of NHS in 1974. Not long after graduation, he began his career working for NIBCO where he remained until his retirement in 2013 after 39 dedicated years. Mike was an avid outdoorsman with his favorite activities being hunting and fishing. He constantly longed to spend more time in the woods or on the lake. He claimed many trophy animals, many of which he proudly displayed all throughout the house. One of his proudest accomplishments and dedicated duties in his life was being named president of the Lavaca Creek Hunting Club.
Everyone that knew Mike, knew him as a friend. Although he may have appeared grumpy, he was never afraid of a good conversation and always treated people he met with respect. The most important people in Mike’s life were his family. As his sons grew older and became involved in baseball and basketball, he taught them how to succeed, not only in sports but also in life. Even through hardships, he focused on what was most important. He loved to spend the time he had with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
