A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Southern Bliss, 5419 Hwy 59 S, Nacogdoches, TX 75964.
Mr. Miguez passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, in Nacogdoches. He was born in Hanford, Washington on December 20, 1944, the son Harold and Doris Elaine Braden Miguez.
Mike spent most of his childhood in the Beaumont area where he played football before graduating from South Park High School. He also attended Lamar Technical in Beaumont. Mike was raised to be an honest and responsible man, and he became just that. He joined the United States Army and based at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. In 1968, his life changed substantially. He married his sweetheart and best friend, Joy. He was smitten and knew their lives would be great. They were blessed with their two children, Carrie and Scott and with the arrival of grandchildren, Mike felt as if his life was complete. He and Joy enjoyed many things together including traveling. They especially found great joy in finding the little local owned restaurant to sit down to a good meal. It could not be said that Mike had an idle hand. He was always busy doing something. He retired from Southwestern Bell/AT&T but that did not keep him from dedicating his time to other things he loved. He spent many days with the CERT Team, Ham Radio Club and Skywarn. He also volunteered with the Nacogdoches Fire Department as well as using his special skills as an EMT. He also drove a bus for Woden ISD and served with their maintenance department. Mike was a simple, caring, dedicated man. He loved his family fiercely and without boundaries. He never met a stranger, made friends everywhere he went and never forgot when someone was kind to him. Mike was a “giver” and never missed a chance to help someone in need. He took pride in being a person to turn to when someone needed anything. However, his greatest passion was his family. He was proud of his children and found sunshine in the eyes of his grandchildren. He was always happiest when surrounded by those closest to him and the memories they shared will forever live on in their hearts and minds.
Mike is survived by his precious wife, Joy; children, Scott Miguez and wife, Kristy and Carrie Garza and Jason; grandchildren, Dylan Miguez and Taylor Garza and wife, Brylee; great granddaughter, Lindsey Garza; nieces, Monica, Tara, Nicole, Sarah, Emily and Alex. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Doris Miguez and sister, Peggy Jo Hull.
