Michael Wayne Stevenson, Sr.

A visitation will be held for Michael Wayne Stevenson, Sr., 69, of Nacogdoches from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Laird Funeral Home. Mr. Stevenson passed away on July 16, 2025, in Nacogdoches. He was born on December 13, 1955, in Houston to the late Charlie and Lavenia Kirk Stevenson.

Michael grew up in the Nacogdoches area. He graduated from Timpson High School and then went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin University. Michael had a long hard battle with health issues after being in an accident while working. He taught for a while in Alto. Michael was an artist and enjoyed handcycling. Michael’s passion and true calling was being the Service Coordinator at Independence Manor. He helped many people with disabilities through his time there.

Michael is survived by his children, Michael Wayne Stevenson, Jr. and wife, Cathy, and Karen Waters; grandchildren, Kristina Spring Waters, Kaitleen Bodin, Christopher Stevenson, Jesse Waters, and Joseph Stevenson; great-grandchildren, Marcy Shaver, Eli Bodin, Abby Bodin, and Grace Bodin; sisters, Jeanie Warr and Leslie Stevenson; brother, Robert Stevenson and wife, Helen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is joined in heaven by his wife, Opal Stevenson; and parents, Charlie and Lavenia Kirk Stevenson.
