Melony Honea Obituary

Funeral service for Melony Carol Honea, 28, of Nacogdoches will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Laird Funeral Home with Rev. Sherman Kossie officiating.  Interment will be held at 3:30pm following the service, at Smith Cemetery in Center, Texas.  Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Laird Funeral Home.  Ms. Honea passed away on March 2, 2023 in Nacogdoches.

Melony was born on February 8, 1995, with the expectation of only being able to make it to her 2nd birthday due to a rare medical abnormality.  She obviously had a fighting spirit and deep enough love for those around her, that she outlived every limit that was given to her.  Her 28 years were blessed with many people who cared for her and an exceptional family that was overjoyed to have her in their lives.

Melony spent her days with her mamma and grandmother Joy, as her faithful supporters.  They could not have given her the care she needed or attention she deserved without the dedication of some of the best nurses and caretakers by their side.   Early in Melony’s life, she was blessed to have two angels in disguise.  Mrs “B” and Kinya Rhodes were not only her friends, providers and nurses, but also her confidant and much more.  They were Melony’s favorites!

Melony joyfully filled her days with simple things that made her smile.  Her bright spirit and contagious love of life will forever be remembered by those closest to her.  She enjoyed music and balloons and never failed to be ever so thankful if anyone brought her fruit loops or chili cheese Fritos!  She also had a great adoration for animals of all kinds.  Her final days at Willowbrook was special because she was able to spend them with her grandmother next to her.

Melony is survived by her mother, Glenda Madden and husband, Charro of Douglass; grandparents, Joy Honea of Nacogdoches, Jimmy Honea of Douglass and Winston Blankenship of Chireno; siblings, Cheyanne Madden and fiancé Jacob Rogers of Center, Dustin Honea of Douglass and Chase Madden of Douglass; aunts & uncles, Tiffany Watson and husband, Sam of Spring and Clint Wilburn and wife, Kim of Glendale, Arizona; and nephews, Jentzen Rogers and Dylon Honea.

She is preceded in death by grandmother, Barbara Blankenship and uncle, Kevin Wilburn.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charro Madden, Chase Madden, Dustin Honea, Sam Watson, Brian Naples, Jacob Rogers and Ardell Rhodes.
