Mrs. Robertson passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 in Lufkin.
Mavis Aline Harris was born on September 9, 1932 in the Blackjack Community of Nacogdoches County, the daughter of Herman and Vallie Lucas Harris. She graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1950 and soon after, married her sweetheart, Kenneth Faulkner. Together, they raised their boys and watched as they grew into fine young men. After living in New York where Kenneth was stationed and then moving to Pasadena to work and be near to family, they finally settled right back in East Texas in 1957, where they made their home. In 1990, after almost 40 years of marriage, Kenneth passed away and Mavis remained here doing what she loved most, which was being of service to her family, friends and the community she loved so dearly. As fate would have it, she attended a class reunion and once again, became acquainted with an old friend, Billy Robertson. She and Billy were married in 1992 and spent almost 23 years together. In 2015, Billy passed away. This again left Mavis to be the matriarch of the family and continue with the blessings that life gave her. Mavis loved her Lord and often told the story of her, along with her sisters, being baptized in the early 1940’s at Old North Church, where she remained a member.
Mavis spent her lifetime as a dedicated and loyal employee of Commercial Bank where she began her career in 1960. She promoted several times during her tenure there and worked her way up until she was Vice President in charge of Women’s Interest in 1981. She remained there until her retirement. Mavis was in her element doing this work. She enjoyed nothing more than being there for her clients and the people of Nacogdoches. She made many lifelong friends while at work and treasured each of them. However, there was nothing more prevalent in her life than her family. She was so very proud of her sons and grandchildren and the bonds that she nurtured through the years will continue to grow in the memories she made with those closest to her.
Mavis is survived by her sons, Kevin Faulkner & wife, Lynn of Nacogdoches and Mike Faulkner & wife, Clo of Carthage; grandchildren, Eric Faulkner & wife, Nicole of Hideaway Lake, Barry Faulkner & wife, Hollie Kay of Carthage and Heather Quintela & husband, Paul of San Antonio; great grandchildren, Jack Quintela, Lainey Quintela, Maisie Quintela, Barrett Faulkner, Lillie Clo Faulkner and Micah Faulkner and her sister, Kate Wray of San Antonio.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Vallie Harris; husband and father of her children, Kenneth Faulkner; husband, Billy Robertson; sisters, Maurice Payne and Bobbie Wukasch and brother, Furman Harris.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Heart-to-Heart Hospice at 3316 North University Drive, Suite B, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965.
