When one thinks of Mary, her big personality, love for her family and true perseverance, comes to mind.  Mary loved her children and grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to tell them old stories about the past.  She strived to instill family values, never forget to laugh at yourself and never forget where you came from.   She love to cook, sew, quilt, make dolls, craft but if a grandchild came to visit, that all stopped to just enjoying them.   Many times, she could be found driving them around on her golf cart, planting flowers with them or helping them make a fun craft.  If she was not outside, chances were she was cooking for someone their favorite meal.   She shared her love with food and enjoyed teaching others how to cook her favorite recipes.  She learned to cake decorate and created some beautiful works of art for friends and family over the years.  If there was an opportunity to laugh, she took it. She managed to raise six kids with a sense of humor and high expectations. Her love of the outdoors was a trait she passed on to her kids. She had a garden of flowers and vegetables that always seemed to flourish.  Her larger than life personality was even evident in her garden, producing more than enough to share with everyone around. Aside from gardening, she loved the beach, puzzles, listening to her favorite pastor on TV and fishing. She could fish for hours on end surrounded by her husband Charles, their kids and any grandkid that wanted to tag along. As long as she felt there was a bigger fish to catch, she was we going to try to catch it. Her sheer stubbornness would practically manifest things into happening. Nothing stood in her way once she made her mind up.  She was fierce and strong.  You could even go as far as to say that is an inherited trait by many in the family. If you knew Mary, you knew she adored Elvis. One of her favorite adventures was when she and Charles visited Graceland and was given the opportunity to see all things “ELVIS”.  Thanks to Mary, she has created generations that have flourished, much like her gardens. We are all better for the memories made, lessons learned, love shown and laughter shared with Mary.

Mary is survived by her children, Sylvia & Pete Olds of Lufkin, Dennis & Gayle Snodgrass of Lufkin, Beth & Britt Fleniken of Lufkin, Brian & Stephanie Snodgrass of Milam, Susan & Tom Martin of Lufkin and Jeff & Patricia Snodgrass of Hemphill; 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Snodgrass.
