Lisa passed away on May 17, 2026, in Garrison. She was born on November 25, 1957, in Nacogdoches to Billy and Martha (McLeroy) Johnson.
The world is full of people who give up and succumb to whatever life throws at them. Lisa was not one of those people. Although she was diagnosed in her late teens with Charcot-Marie Tooth, a muscular degeneration disease, she never allowed it to keep her from doing what she loved. She was a strong woman who fought this disease with grace and dignity and on Sunday, May 17, 1926, she won. Her joys in life came from many things and memories of her will continue to fill the hearts and minds of those closest to her.
Lisa was a native of Nacogdoches, graduating from Nacogdoches High School and then attending Stephen F. Austin State University studying criminal justice. During her studies, she began working as a dispatcher at the Sheriff’s Office and while there, she met Pat Jones. The two found they enjoyed spending time together, and on December 31, 1983, they were married. Lisa and Pat enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling to different places. The two appreciated the simple life. They did not need much to keep them happy. Although Lisa and Pat were typically quite meek and uncomplicated, she definitely would enjoy the time she spent with her friends. Deemed as “The Poultry Queens”, this group of ladies spent many weekends together as they enjoyed traveling and time at the beach house. There is no doubt that the times they shared holds special places in their memories.
Lisa is survived by her nephew, Tyler Johnson and wife Lydia; niece, Kaylee Johnson; cousin Tawnya “Todie” Dornak and husband Robert; great niece Reagan Johnson and great nephew Ryan Johnson as well as a plethora of amazing friends who have remained by her side for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James “Pat” Jones; parents, Billy and Martha McLeroy Johnson and brother, Scott Johnson.
A special thank you is extended to Garrison Nursing Home where she was afforded excellent care and years of dedication from the superior staff that Lisa cherished and adored.
