Linda Still Obituary

Memorial Service for Linda Still, 75, of Nacogdoches, will be at 9:00 AM on Monday, June 27, 2022, at First Christian Church of Nacogdoches, with Terry Hodge and Patsy Barham officiating. Mrs. Still passed away June 21, 2022, in Nacogdoches. She was born June 6, 1947.

Linda was born in Nacogdoches and raised in Central Heights by parents, Lloyd and Alla Mae Thacker Hudgins.  She graduated from Central Heights High School in 1965, proudly earning the rank of Salutatorian.  One summer day, she met a young man at the baseball complex.  That chance meeting began a courtship that led to a wonderful 45-year marriage to her beloved Rick Still.  She and Rick were married in 1975 at their church home, First Christian Church.  Together, they made a life filled with beautiful memories and a family they were very proud of.  Linda was devoted to her church where she formerly served as a board member and vacation bible schoolteacher as well as being a Deaconess.   She was honored to be a part of decorating the new sanctuary when it was built.  Linda was very involved in the community and enjoyed serving her great East Texas neighbors.  She was a founding member and officer of Nacogdoches Junior Forum and never missed an opportunity to help further the success of those around her.

Linda loved to travel.  She and Rick enjoyed the times they spent in Colorado, Washington, California, Florida and New York City.  She always knew Rick was up to traveling with his “Sweet Wifey” to add to their list of places they captured in their memories.  She loved antiques and decorating but was happiest when surrounded by her dear friends and family.  She was honest, loyal, devoted to what she believed in and sure to bring a smile to everyone.  Linda was a beautiful soul who gave her all to everything she set out to accomplish.  In most recent years, as her health dealt her a number of physical setbacks, she found great pleasure in enjoying the peace and serenity of the beauty betrayed through the wildlife in her back yard.  She will be missed dearly by those closest to her but the smiles and laughter she brought and memories made will be cherished forever.

Linda is survived by her best friend and husband, Rick Still of Nacogdoches; son, John Daniel Still of Nacogdoches; brother, George Hudgins of Denver, Colorado and niece Lynn Waldron and husband, Damon of Etoile.

She is preceded in death by her precious daughter, Ricci Linn Still; sisters, Laverne Attaway and Nora Ann Petty; brothers, Jerry Hudgins and Langston Hudgins, as well as her parents, Lloyd and Alla Mae Hudgins.
