Linda Sampson entered her Heavenly home on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, in Longview, surrounded by those who loved her most. After enduring complications from triple bypass open-heart surgery, Jesus welcomed Linda with open arms, giving her the peace and serenity, she deserved. Linda was born in Nacogdoches on January 20, 1947, to Lewis and Mattie Stone. Once Linda is laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park she will have spent her entire life in her favorite place, Nacogdoches, Texas.
Linda graduated Nacogdoches High School in 1965, with not only her diploma but also a certification in office management and accounting from Nacogdoches Business College. It was with this certification that she spent the rest of her adult life working as an office manager at places such as Soil Fertility for 25 years and Nacogdoches Medical Center Plant Operations for 7 years before retiring. On Friday, June 18, 1965, two weeks after graduating high school, Linda married the love of her life, David, whom she had been dating for four years while he was away serving his country. Together, Linda and David created a wonderful life as they raised three boys to know their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to know what true love between husband and wife looks like. Linda made sure that no one left her home hungry and knowing that they always had a place to lay their head at night. More times than can be remembered, every bed and open space on the floor would be filled with friends of her sons. For many years, Linda took care of her three children, her mother and mother-in-law who had both moved in, and worked full time while David was away working during the week in Dallas to provide for their family. She was a determined and strong-willed woman who loved deeply and never gave up.
Linda was a life-long member of Fredonia Hill Baptist Church. Growing up at this church, she knew how important it was and she brought her boys up there as well. For many, many years Linda and David taught Sunday School, worked in the day care and anywhere else their help was needed. Fredonia Hill Baptist Church held a special place in her heart, not only because of her love for God, but also because her mother was the last surviving charter member of the church. Linda’s family moved to Nacogdoches from Tennessee in 1838, allowing their family’s roots grow and never leave Nacogdoches. Family was of utmost importance for Linda; she spent all her free time with her family and friends, showering them with love and making sure everyone felt special. Linda was the rock of the family – she made sure everyone stayed in contact. She always had a shoulder to lean on when someone was in need and never failed to put a smile on your face.
