Mr. Hogue passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024 in Tyler, Texas.  He was born on December 29, 1946 in Houston, Texas.

Larry Hogue was likely the most hospitable man you would ever meet.  He never met a stranger because he loved people and would find some similarity or shared interest with each person he spoke to and if he couldn’t remember your name, you were always “George”.  He was loving and giving and always helped others when he could.  His love of life will forever be one of the greatest traits used to describe this man who meant the world to so many.

Larry spent his early years in Houston and honorably served 3 years in the US Army.  During his tenure as a soldier, while on leave back in Houston, he and several others went out dancing.  By fate, he stumbled into a beautiful young woman that took his breath away and he asked her to dance.  That bold move by a soldier to a stunning stranger led to 57 years of beautiful memories with his beloved Doris.

Their story was full of love and wonderful times loving on their family.  When given the opportunity he moved his family to Nacogdoches because the city life was not where he wanted to be.  Larry was the life of the party, telling outlandish fishing stories and keeping everyone laughing.  He loved holidays and never failed to be the best at hiding the “special Easter egg” or frying fish for all that gathered around.  He enjoyed farming and fishing and in his later years, splurged on the occasional trip to the casino.  He took his role of being a husband and father very seriously and doted on his wife and children.  He was proud of the life his children made for themselves and bragged on them every chance he got.  He loved each of them dearly.

With all that happened in his life, the joy of being a proud “Poppie or Paw Paw” was ultimately the best.  His loving arms were always big enough for every one of them and he loved them beyond measure.

Larry was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  He attended regularly as long as his health allowed and would arrive early to assume his role as door greeter.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Doris Hogue; children, Dana Parker & Dwain, Cindy Merriman & Debo, Deanne Russell & Bobby, Terry Hogue & Trish and Randy Hogue & Kaci; grandchildren, Steven Troup, Amanda Ham & Michael, Emily Arriola & Jacob, Lacy Blanton & Roy, Charity Martin & Siah, Dustin Hogue & Alyssa, Dalton Hogue, Caydn Hogue, Cannon Ramsey, Hayley Hogue and Kymber Hogue; great grandchildren, Carter Troup, Matthew Ham, Avery Ham, Maggie Arriola, Kinslie Martin, Fletcher Martin, Scarlet Martin, Rhyder Blanton and Rawzyn Blanton; sister, Sandra Cook and brother-in-law, Edward Dill & wife, Rose.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil & Lorene Hogue; grandson, Bryan Dale Hogue; and siblings, Mike Hogue and Debbie Guajardo.
