Kim Teng

Funeral service for Kim Teng, 75, of Nacogdoches will be held at 9:00am on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home. 

Mr. Teng passed away on December 1, 2024, in Nacogdoches. He was born on January 2, 1949, in Battambang, Cambodia.

Kim Rin Teng grew up in Cambodia. He married his lovely wife, Sous Lay Teng, on February 7, 1979. They were married for 45 years at the time of his passing. Kim and his family moved to Nacogdoches in 1995 where they opened Continental Liquor and other family-owned businesses. Kim came to this country with nothing and managed, with hard work and determination, to build a family enterprise.

Kim enjoyed watching sports. He was a die-hard Cowboys fan even through all these years as a losing team. Kim was often seen walking up and down North Street or in his store. He was always quick to greet customers with a “How are you tomorrow?" or “No money, No honey!! Call me 911!” Pops was a well-known figure in this town, and he will be missed greatly by his customers who became friends.

Kim loved his family but especially his grandchildren. Tata was special to each and every one of them. The family mourns the loss of a great patriarch.

Kim leaves behind his wife, Sous Teng; daughter, Malinna Teng Caraway and husband, LaRoderick of Nacogdoches; sons, Steve Teng and wife, Vorneath of Nacogdoches, and Vee Rin of Puyallup, Washington; grandchildren, Bryce Teng, Stephen Teng, Maliyah Gaytan, Jordan Teng, Bryah Teng, Kris Teng, Jayla Caraway, Jesalyn Caraway, Cedrick Rin, and Chancee Rin; great-grandchildren, Kash Lapoint-Teate and Devin Rin; and sister, Sopheap Pich and husband, Sophannara of Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Prork Teng and Hap Mak Teng.
