Karen Ann (Carroll) Dill

In loving memory of Karen Ann Dill, wife to James Ray Dill, born on July 6th, 1950 in Pasadena, Texas. Karen peacefully passed, Sunday January 16th, 2022 in her home in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was preceded in death by Father Paul Carroll; Mother-Willie Maxwell Carroll; four brothers; three sisters; son-Brian Buelow; Daughter-Rhonda Dill & great-grandson Liam Jay. Survived by: Husband-James Ray Dill; Son-Charles Dill; Son-Steven Buelow; Daughter-Kristi Buelow; Daughter- Robin Bryant & Daughter-Lisa Dill; Grandchildren: Charlie, Brandi, Brooke, Summer, Dalton, Blake, Bailey, Bolton, Brandt, Anna, Sara & Briana; Adopted Grand-children: Aaron, Cade & Preston; Great-Grandchildren: Kaleb, Aubrie, Elaina, Kason, Paisley, Owen, Katie-Leigh, & Little-man Sutton; Brother-Jimmy Carroll; and Sister-Sandy Bryant.

Karen Dill was the beloved wife of James Dill. They were married January 9th, 1980 in Houston Texas. Together they spent every day of 42 wonderful years creating a life to be proud of. They raised their combined children in Pasadena Texas, later to move and build their farm home in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was a stay-at-home mother focused on cultivating the land and raising her family.  Once everyone was taken care of and everything was settled, she re-entered the work force.  She had a long tenure at Pilgrim’s Pride with a deep commitment as Admin Manager for fifteen years.  She then continued with her greatest commitment & passion, her family.  She had such an entrepreneur spirit always coming up with new ideas to put something interesting and beneficial into this world.  You could always see Ray supporting whatever her new endeavor might have been, no matter how short lived the newfound hobby would be. From countless trips to Hobby Lobby to being in the wood shop or metal shop cutting out the latest vision she had to create, he always did so with a willingness to see her happy.

Artistic, imaginative, creative & poetic are just a few words that we would use to describe Karen. She appreciated art and the unstructured variety of possibilities that came with knowing there was always beauty beyond what the eye could see. Whether it was a quilt, a painting or an outfit for a grand/great grandbaby, there was always something to be done.  She was an organic soul with an adept love for gardening and cooking. As she raised her children, she instilled in them the knowledge and importance of organically taking something from the ground to table and all steps needed to do so. She was thoroughly skilled in creative cooking, so much that she had recipes published in a local recipe book. Karen lived a life based on the next event & planning the next holiday that her family would be attending. She took pleasure in being a host, always wanting her family gathered, no matter how chaotic we could all be together.  She held a love for her children, grandchildren and greats that could not be compared to anything worldly.  Today and each day after, she will be missed as the one that held it all together, a warm embrace of comfort & also the lecture that was sometimes needed. She was a spitfire personality with radiating bold colors. Karen’s absence will be felt by so many that will continue to unapologetically love and live vibrantly, as she taught us all.

A celebration of Karen’s life was/will be held at Laird Funeral Home on Friday January 21st, 2022, at 2:00 pm, followed by services at Laird funeral home at 3:00 pm. Karen’s final place of rest will be at Wilkerson cemetery in Aiken, Texas.
