Judy Turnell

Funeral services for Judy Turnell, 75, of Kountze, will be held at 2:00pm, on May 27th, at Laird Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Wilson, officiating. Interment will follow at Fariview Cemetery in Nacogdoches.

Visitation will be help from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on May 27th at Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Turnell passed away on May 20th, 2023, in Beaumont, Texas. She was born on August 18th, 1947, in Nacogdoches, Texas. 

Judy Turnell grew up in Deer Park, Texas, where she attended Deer Park High School. Judy was a lighthearted country girl that adored being outdoors. Judy loved working in her yard and enjoyed planting her flowers. She also had a heart for animals but especially her little dog, Emmy.

Her favorite activities included talking and spending quality time with her family. Judy loved to talk on the phone with her sisters, and she especially loved to embarrass her son Randy. Her sons were the light of her life. She was affectionately known as Mee-maw by her grands. She would throw Christmas parties for her grandchildren. At the Christmas parties she would spend time decorating and watching movies with them. She always cherished making memories like these when she was able to be with her family. She also loved to cook a big meal when she knew her family was coming to visit.

Judy was a fun individual who loved to laugh. She was also the type of person who put everyone else’s needs before her own. She cherished her family unconditionally. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and an amazing person that will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Judy is survived by her children Clay Lanier, Randy (Lisa) Turnell, stepchildren Jodie (John) Baker, Gray (Roxanne) Turnell; sisters Betty Lechner and Nancy (Jimmy) Verzinski; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy is proceeded in death by her husband Ronnie Turnell; parents Oran and Gladys Buhler; and sister Linda Sue Schiesler.
