Joyce Marie (Carpenter) Frederick

Graveside services for Joyce Marie (Carpenter) Frederick, 93, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Bethel Cemetery in Appleby officiated by Bro. Paul Sevar.

Joyce married the love of her life, James L. Frederick, on August 24, 1951, and together they shared 27 years of marriage before his passing. Their life together was rooted in devotion to family, faith, and home.

Joyce was a Proverbs 31 woman who watched over her household with diligence and love; her children rise up and call her blessed. Her hands were rarely still—she found joy in sewing, quilting, crocheting, and knitting, creating both beauty and comfort for those she loved. A gifted writer, she was also a published author of poetry, expressing her thoughts and emotions through carefully chosen words. She enjoyed baseball and could always be counted on to cheer when the Texas Rangers won, especially when the Houston Astros lost.

Joyce leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and will continue to honor her legacy: her sister, Elaine Palmer, and husband Hal of Carthage, Texas; her children, Nelda Frederick of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Lynn Frederick and wife Janet of Martinsville, Texas; her grandchildren, Neil Williams of Huntsville, Texas; Wes Williams and wife Christina of Nacogdoches, Texas; Angela Crager and husband Andrew of Huntsville, Texas; Michael Clifton and wife Brandy of Nacogdoches, Texas; Cheyenne Dill and husband Brant of Nacogdoches, Texas; Meghan Ferguson and husband Dustin of Nacogdoches, Texas; Corey Frederick of Nacogdoches, Texas; Caydan Frederick of Nacogdoches, Texas; and Wesley Lucas and wife Katie of Martinsville, Texas; her great-grandchildren, Austin Williams, Kylie Williams, James Crager and wife Kyla, Milla Crager, Jackson Ferguson, Margaret Lucas, Carley Slaughter, Nathan Watson, Kashtyn Dill, Brynleigh Dill, Noah Dill and Lyle Slaughter; and her great-great-grandchildren, Liam Crager, Sha’Qira Maxie, Isaiah Slaughter, Leland Bagley, Elijah Slaughter, Ethan Slaughter, and Gabriel Almaraz.

Joyce was reunited in heaven with those who preceded her in death: her beloved husband, James L. Frederick; her daughter, Patsy Frederick; her parents, Emmett and Minnie Carpenter; her brother, Lyle Carpenter; and her sisters, Zella Graves and Margaret Peterson.
