Mrs. Covington passed away on December 1, 2024, in El Paso, Texas. She was born on April 26, 1937 in Fisher, Louisiana.
Joy was born in Fisher, Louisiana on April 26, 1937, the daughter of Luther Martin and Opal Burris. She loved her family dearly and was never happier than when they surrounded her. She was a very dedicated and loyal supporter of her church and strived daily to fulfill her role in the world as a believer of Christ. She was blessed to have had two loves in her life, Jesse Robbins and James Covington. Most recently, she was saddened to say goodbye to husband, James upon his passing. She was the proud mother of her 3 children and a doting “MeMaw” to 19 grandchildren. Joy always took her roles seriously, including in her work. Her past jobs included bank teller, cashier, church secretary and Realtor but her most important job was at her home. She lovingly raised her children and stood beside her husbands and with the arrival of grandchildren, her devotion to them brought a special delight to her heart. She also enjoyed needlework, knitting, arts and crafts and coloring. She was kind, respectful to everyone she met and found joy in spending time with friends as they shared many moments of laughter and happiness.
Joy is survived by her children, Kathy DeAngelis and husband, Luciano, David Robbins & wife, Pam and Darrell Robbins & wife, RaeJean; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; brothers, Gary Martin & wife, Georgia and James Martin & wife, Donna; aunt, Laverne Ivy and sister-in-law, Caroline Martin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Covington; her parents, Luther and Elise Martin and Opal & Bud Burris and siblings, Don Martin and Shirley Green and husband, Ed.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Justin Robbins, Tristen Robbins, Richard Humphreys, Scott Wallace, Scotty Spake and Mike Miller.
