Funeral services for John Walker, 52, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Laird Funeral Home. interment will follow at Pinegrove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Laird Funeral Home.
John Earl Walker peacefully passed away on July 14, 2021, in Nacogdoches, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 52. He was born on August 30, 1968, in Yazoo, Mississippi, to George and Betty Walker.
John grew up in Mendenhall, Mississippi, where he attended and graduated high school and spent many years playing football. Throughout John’s whole life, he enjoyed the outdoors and spent countless hours on his boat at the lake fishing or relaxing on his porch swing. He enjoyed cooking and grilling and could make anybody smile and laugh without breaking a sweat. John was a kind and loving man who was always the first to help those in need.
John met his beloved wife, Melissa, at a Continental Motel where he quickly fell in love. They were married on July 13, 1998, for 23 wonderful years. John loved all his entire family dearly and will be missed ever so much by those closest to him.
John is survived by his wife, Melissa Walker; son, Jonathan Walker; daughters, Jasmin Slaydon and husband, Trino Douron, and Ariel Slaydon and husband, Randy Asworth; sisters, Sandra Bowman and husband, Teddie, and Melinda Workmen and husband, John; brother, Tim Walker and wife, Nan; seven step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Louise Walker; and one granddaughter.
