Graveside service for John Kimmey, 81, of Nacogdoches will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
John went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2021.
He was born July 10, 1939 in Winnsboro, Texas to Clissie and John Kimmey.
They moved to Center, Texas where the Spirit spoke to John during a Sunday meeting. He walked to the front and gave his life over to Christ at the tender age of 10.
The family eventually made their way to Nacogdoches, where he graduated from Nacogdoches High School. He met Janice O’Quinn while there in school, and a few years later they were married on November 23, 1960 at her family home in Nacogdoches.
Nine years later, their daughter Jennifer was added to the family.
John loved the outdoors and the comradery of others who felt the same. He led a hunting club for over 30 years until he turned it over to his good friends Tom Murphy and John Looney. John also loved tinkering with engines and boats, reselling them when he could. He loved animals and cared for many various types throughout his life. John spent many years with his beloved sidekick, JR the Jack Russell terrier.
He loved his family the most though and took great pride in his daughter, Jennifer and two grandchildren, Gabriel and Hannah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clissie Kimmey.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Kimmey; daughter, Jennifer Kimmey Bryant and her husband, Steven Bryant.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Gabriel Bryant and Hannah Bryant.
