Mrs. Anderson passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 in Nacogdoches.

Jimmie Ruth was born on September 8, 1926 to Frank & Bonnie Boase Hancock in Wichita Falls, Texas.  She was the second child and first girl born into their family of 8 children.  Her father worked for many years at a refinery in Harris County.  Jimmie began school at Oscar Kruse in Pasadena and in 1930, the family moved to Golden Acres.  Her parents established one of two local stores in the neighborhood where many family members lived in proximity and often helped in the store.  At a young age, Jimmie married Howard Winston Anderson in a double wedding alongside her cousin, Geraldine Boase and James Mitchell.  It was also high school graduation night for Howard, Geraldine and James.  While Howard honorably served in the U. S. Army, Jimmie lived with her parents, helping with the house, store and younger siblings.  Howard and Jimmie welcomed their first son, Howard, on September 22, 1945.  They welcomed another son 10 years later when Audie entered this world on February 6, 1956.  One of the doctors told Jimmie “That’s like having a first baby twice”.

Jimmie and Howard operated a printing and bookstore in South Houston for many years. They were also devoted and dedicated church workers. Their lives centered on doing good to and for others and her favorite activity was singing in the choir.  Jimmie became a widow in 1975 when her beloved Howard passed away.  After his passing, she learned to drive and made many trips to Nacogdoches, accompanied by her mother, to visit her son, Howard, who settled in the country to become a farmer.  It was there Howard met and married Suedell Smith and Jimmie gained her first grandchild, Jan.  Jimmie also welcomed grandsons, Trey and Terry after moving from her home in Deer Park to the farm with Howard and Sue.  Her youngest son, Audie married Marilou Nemaria and Jimmie was once again blessed with granddaughters, Angel and Maddie.  Finally, most of the family had settled in the Nacogdoches area which brought great joy to Jimmie.

Jimmie was wholly dedicated to living a life filled by Christ.  She was a loyal member of Perritte Memorial Methodist Church for over 40 years, attending regularly until her health no longer allowed it.  She also filled her time with work at Wyatt’s Office Supply where she met many people and gained wonderful friends that she adored.

While we grieve and are saddened by this loss, we celebrate her inspiring, remarkable and well-lived life.

She is survived by her son, Audie Anderson & wife, Marilou; grandchildren, Howard Winston Anderson III & wife, Whitney, Isaac Terry Anderson & wife, Traci, Jan Howard & husband, David, Marylle Angel Anderson and Madalyn Ruth Anderson; great grandchildren, Anthony Gage Guerrero, Sarah Elizabeth Howard, Tyler Andrew Howard & wife, Maegan, Landon Bryce Anderson, Braxton Lee Anderson, Connor Troy Hogan, Kathryn Lynn Howard, Caleb Alexander Anderson and Drake Winston Anderson;  sister, Mary Catherine Escue and husband, Leonard and sisters-in-law, Eleene Hancock and Joyce Hancock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.W “Andy” Anderson, Sr.; son & daughter-in-law, Howard Jr. & Suedell Anderson and siblings, Frank Hancock, Jr., Earl Way Hancock, Cecil Wayne Hancock, Jack Rodney Hancock, Barbara Ann Farque and husband, George, Leroy Hancock, and an infant sibling.
