Mr, Brewer passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 in Nacogdoches. He was born on August 1, 1945 in Dallas.
Jerry was a man of true character. He was charming and loyal, dedicated and driven. He could repair most anything and if he found something he deemed as worthy, he brought it home and made something valuable from it. He enjoyed many things during his lifetime but had a true passion for music which began from a very early age. He was in a band when he was younger and even pursued his talents of writing and singing later in life. He was a skilled guitarist and spent many hours playing and singing. In 1983, he met and married Delores. He built their house with his own hands and made sure it was exactly what they wanted. Together, their memories have multiplied over time and most recently, their favorite place was sitting in their garage drinking coffee, discussing whatever came to mind and simply enjoying the world around them. They have even been visited by the shared pet deer, Pearl, who often came in to “help Jerry work” on his latest projects. Although he was opinionated and certainly loved adventures and creating things, his greatest joy came from his family. He loved Delores and the children and grandchildren, all of which brought the most immense happiness to his life. He will leave a gaping hole in the lives of those who loved him the most, but his memory will live on in their hearts and minds because his “music” will never fade.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years, Delores Brewer; children, Jeanne Smith, John Brewer & wife, Carmen, Debra Taylor, Amber Rector & husband, Bryan, Deann Broadway & husband, Brad and Lee Taylor & wife, Terri; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and sister, Linda Grant & husband, George.
He is preceded in death by parents, Dawson & Opal Brewer and siblings, Foy Brewer and Kathy Thomas.
There are special friends who have made quite an impact on Jerry. Paul Allen Brewer and wife, Claudine were more than simply a cousin and have shared many memories through the years. April & Don Jenkins have also been great friends and have helped beyond any expectations during recent times.
